The remaining holidays...
I got an invitation for a double degree programme with the french grandes ecoles. Rather tempting offer I must say. Also I just found out that of the current top 15 mathematics students in my cohort, only at most 3 are Singaporeans (The rest are PRC). It's very depressing. On the same note, I'm glad that my parents never asked me about my grades. Okay my father did. He said "How are your exams?" and I mumbled that it is okay. He went on saying that grades are not important as long as I don't fail them. It's nice to have liberal parents.
Nothing beats listening to Stars perform my favourite song "Your Ex-lover is Dead" live in concert. Well worth it. I was really hoping they would sing it one more time.
All that abstract algebra is driving my brain mad but at least I understood that the system of integers is an extension of the system of natural numbers and is invented to allow addition to become an invertible operation. Just like the system of rational numbers is an extension of the system of integers and is invented to allow multiplication to become an invertible operation.
Someone should explain to me what should be the right way to calculate multiplicative order.
I've completed a book on number theory. I should get myself to attempt to read An Introduction to the Theory of Numbers, G.H.Hardy and E. M. Wright.
PS: I'm so glad I've met my former colleagues at PSA for lunch. Sadly, there is probably no job opening for me next holidays...
