Merry Christmas from Budapest
I wanted to post this entry while I was in Budapest, but I was at a hostel that didn't have wifi. So I saved it as a text document. Right now, I am in Bratislava.
I was at Budapest at the wrong date. Firstly, I accidently bought a stamp for post to Europe and when I found out about it and wanted to buy an international stamp. Then, I found out that the only place that sells it is at the post office which doesn't open on the 24th Dec. Next thing I realised is that the shops start to close at 2pm and it was hard to do anything including finding places for food. I missed out on one museum that I really wanted to go, but thankfully, I went to the Terror Haza the night before.
On the other hand, I attended a Christmas service at 12am in a nearby Hungarian Church. The church was nicely decorated with beautiful sculptures and paintings and murals. The service started off with a few pieces on the pipe organ before some songs by a trio. Next up were the service proper. It is really an experience going through a Christmas service in an European nation in a language that I totally do not understand.
Merry Christmas everyone.
