Hello World
I have left this blog idle for quite some time as I was waiting for the results to be out. Now that the results are out, I guess it's time for me to record down my thoughts of the modules I took.
CS1102X
It was hard trying to fit CS1102X into my timetable and I had to request permission to attend the lectures for CS1102Y while attending the tutorials for CS1102X. Overall, the things taught in this module is elementary. I am however extremely glad to have Dr Min to be my tutor as his tutorials were not boring as he tried to engage everyone.
CS3233
This is the module which caused me to take 7 modules this semester. However, I have no qualms about taking up this module as it was highly interesting and I enjoyed the time I've spent for this module. It is a rather challenging module and I have learnt a lot of new things (Be prepared to put in a lot of hard work for this module - unless of course you are ACM-ICPC world finalist or IOI gold medallist). At the end of the day, it is a problem solving course which tests your ability to think. I had the most fun taking part in contest with my team for KL regionals. The problem setting "project" for hw11-12 was pretty interesting. Kudos to Steven Halim for job well done.
ES1301
Despite the yuckiness of english module I tried to put in some effort in this module. I am glad Ms Fahzilah tried to make the lessons more bearable. She's a nice lady until of course someone tries to climb over her head.
MA1101R
Prof Victor Tan is a good tutor, sadly he will not be teaching higher level modules. I like solving the "proving" questions in linear algebra as I do find pure computation problems boring. Maybe that is why I tend to score worse for modules that are solely application of mathematics rather than "proving" kind of questions.
MA1104
This module is a major disaster for me. Firstly, I didn't do well for midterms because I was careless. Secondly, the finals was extremely difficult - it really felt like Dr Ku was out to kill us all. I felt extremely depressed after the paper and thought I would get either B or B-. Luckily, I got better than that, which I'm extremely thankful for.
MA2216
I must say it was hard to follow this module as Dr Yanis did not provide lecture notes before the lecture and would only upload after the lecture. Personally I thought I would have done better for this module, but it turned out that I was wrong.
PC1144
I took this module as it was a stepping stone into Quantum Mechanics. It proved to be a rather interesting journey for me as I had to go through yet another 5 experiments and mastering-physics. Furthermore, the finals were a shocker. Our lecturer came up with an extremely hard paper for the finals and my grades shocked myself. I was expecting myself to get something worse.
This semester was a roller-coaster of emotions for me. I took on the workload of 7 modules (25MC) and all the stress I gave myself. I am glad I have survived the rubbish I have put myself through. Yes, I did not meet my personal expectation which I had at the beginning of the semester, but I am contented that my CAP did not drop as much as I feared after the final papers. And this marks the end of my year 1 life.
